New Year’s Eve Cutie|Maine & NH Newborn Photography

I’m a mom of two so it’s been forever and a day since I had and kind of late night new year celebration.  I wouldn’t have it any other way!  This is all the excitement I need.  What better way to ring in the new year than spending it photographing this adorable little guy and his wonderful parents!2020-01-06_0002

His sweet parents are new to the Northeast.  They searched around and found our studio.  I’m so glad that they did!  2020-01-06_0005

It is not lost on me that it is a big decision who our clients chose to trust to handle and photograph their precious new baby.  It also never stops feeling like an honor and privilege to be trusted with such a task.  2020-01-06_0004

I hadn’t even realized that this sweet boy smiled while his dad was holding him until I was going through the images in post processing.  What a gift.

I love when things just work out.  I remember this sweet boy and his mom in the studio.  She mentioned to me that his nursery was a woodland theme and it just so happened that the prop set ups I had all pulled out went along with that woodsy, natural feel just perfectly.  creighton blog-3

And we also did some blues to go along with the adorable striped hat his Momma brought along.  I just love this boys sweet cheeks and the way his hands form a little heart in the last picture!

Southern Maine & NH Newborn Photographer | Not So Newborn

This gorgeous mamma contacted us about doing a studio newborn photo shoot with her handsome, handsome two month old.  (As a little background info, IDEALLY we like to schedule studio newborn photo shoots when your baby is between 7-10 days old.  This is when they are the most sleepy and curly and we are most likely to be able to get all of those those newborn poses you see so often.)  Of course, we couldn’t guarantee any of those curly, squishy, naked poses for a two month old, but we were totally game to capture this sweet one and his mamma in whatever way we could.  So, not knowing exactly what to expect we jumped right in and started with some adorable awake shots! Oh that eye contact!johnson

There never has been a cuter bear.

And then, what do you know?  Little man fell sound asleep and we actually put him in some of the newborn poses I never actually thought we’d get with him!  I just love when things all come together!  And let me tell you, two month old baby rolls have NOTHING on 1 week old baby rolls!  Just look at those cheeks!johnson-7

He so clearly loved being in his Mamma’s arms!  It was truly precious and humbling to be a part of capturing and freezing these moments in time.johnson-3johnson-4johnson-2

Maine Newborn Photographer | Hiking Edition

mallette blog-4You guys!  I kid you not!  This Labor Day, my husband, two children and I headed to Mt. Major to hike (along with one gagillion others).  We’re headed up the trail when I see this dad headed down, carrying a very young baby in a front pack.  He’s got his earbuds in and the baby is sound asleep.  “Aww. That’s a great dad,” I think to myself.  Then I watch him come closer and as he’s almost passing us, I’m POSITIVE I recognize him.  I KNOW I’ve photographed him, his wife and little guy.  And because I love fun connections like this (or possibly because I’m bold and socially awkward) I reach out and touch him on his shoulder to get his attention.  At this point he probably thinks I’m a crazy lady but then I say, “I think I photographed you and your little one!”  (I’m praying that I’m correct and that he remembers me and doesn’t just give me some weird blank stare.)  And he does!  “Yes, you certainly did!”  He answered.  Then we had a fun little chat about his little guy and his wife off working her shift.  I just love moments like that!  Well, here is this sweet little mo-hawk man and his awesome parents!mallette blog-3

Of course mom and dad are just as smitten.  And dad, who was really hoping for a boy, will now have a little more testosterone in the home 🙂

This little guy is already taking cues from his family and knows how to be the perfect photography subject.  All 9+ pounds of him were sleepy, squishy, adorable goodness!  I just love this close up of his adorable baby rolls!PoulinBlog-11
