Southern Maine Newborn Photographer | Froggy Pose

See this sweet little nugget below?  She is in what is called “Froggy Pose”.  (Yes, there are names for newborn photography poses.)  I usually don’t do Froggy Pose because it requires an assistant and I don’t work with one right now.  Thankfully, I am trained and practiced in this pose, so when this gorgeous couple specifically requested it and brought mom’s stunning wedding gown to use with it, we were able to create it for them.  I briefed dad on his role as baby spotter/supporter, he did a fantastic job, baby cooperated and this lovely images was the result.  I was so happy to be able to do this for them.  georges blog-3

I need you to know that the baby is NEVER left alone in this pose.  She is always supported by the hands of an assisting adult.  Multiple photographs are taken and then during editing, I merge two phpo together to create the image you see here.

And here are just a few samples of the many other beautiful images of this little princess and her family.  georges blog-6

Maine Newborn Photographer | Hiking Edition

mallette blog-4You guys!  I kid you not!  This Labor Day, my husband, two children and I headed to Mt. Major to hike (along with one gagillion others).  We’re headed up the trail when I see this dad headed down, carrying a very young baby in a front pack.  He’s got his earbuds in and the baby is sound asleep.  “Aww. That’s a great dad,” I think to myself.  Then I watch him come closer and as he’s almost passing us, I’m POSITIVE I recognize him.  I KNOW I’ve photographed him, his wife and little guy.  And because I love fun connections like this (or possibly because I’m bold and socially awkward) I reach out and touch him on his shoulder to get his attention.  At this point he probably thinks I’m a crazy lady but then I say, “I think I photographed you and your little one!”  (I’m praying that I’m correct and that he remembers me and doesn’t just give me some weird blank stare.)  And he does!  “Yes, you certainly did!”  He answered.  Then we had a fun little chat about his little guy and his wife off working her shift.  I just love moments like that!  Well, here is this sweet little mo-hawk man and his awesome parents!mallette blog-3

Maine Newborn Twins | Photography

I love the opportunity to photograph twins.  Whether they are paternal twins or fraternal twins, it always brings me such joy to learn their individual personalities over the course of the photography session. BerounskyBlog-6

Its my goal to be able to tell them apart by the end of the session and, knock on wood, I haven’t failed yet.  These two beautiful girls are fraternal twins and it was such a joy and privilege to photograph them, their older brother and sweet mom and dad!

BerounskyBlog-7

Are you beginning to be able to tell them apart?  As any twin will tell you, they are their own person.  I always incorporate individual images of each baby whenever I have a twin newborn session.

Dad’s protective arms had no problem holding both girls safe and sound.BerounskyBlog-4

And here is their sweet and fun mama!BerounskyBlog-5

Big brother is only 20 months old.  He is such a fun, joyous love of a child!BerounskyBlog-2

He has a thing for cars and trucks.  So, of course, I had to grab an image or two to capture that.BerounskyBlog-12

Of course mom and dad are just as smitten.  And dad, who was really hoping for a boy, will now have a little more testosterone in the home 🙂

This little guy is already taking cues from his family and knows how to be the perfect photography subject.  All 9+ pounds of him were sleepy, squishy, adorable goodness!  I just love this close up of his adorable baby rolls!PoulinBlog-11

Maine Newborn Photography|Cousins

Some of our favorite clients gave us the best surprise this year.  They are sisters-in-law and had their babies one day apart!  When they approached us with the idea to do some photographs of the babies together, we were game!  And here is some of the resulting magic! CantwellBlog-4

And, of course, we also did individual newborn portraits for each sweet bundle and his family.  CantwellBlog-6

I couldn’t resist getting some individual images of adorable big brother and sister at the end.  Theirs smiles are just the best!
